THE BEAN-SHAPED TOWN
Lucca is the perfect town for a walking excursion. Surrounded by gigantic city fortifications, it was a town of rich merchants as one can see when passing in front of refined palazzos and marble decorated churches. Learn why this stunning town managed to resist the expansion of Florence for centuries and how its inhabitants are considered so proud!
We arrange private guided tours of Lucca of 3 hours with a very experienced licensed city guide who can easily personalize your route following specific topics.
Our guided tour includes a walk along the city walls to offer you a charming perspective of the downtown as well as a detailled explanation of all most monumental places.
Our three-hour guided tour can be made even more beautiful if you prefer to ride a bike. Our guide will help you rent bikes for 1 or 2 hours. The cost of the bike rental is not included in our offer.
Here some of the attractions in Lucca:
– Anfiteatro square, formerly a Roman amphitheater and today full of bistrots
– the shopping street via Fillungo, still today the most popular commercial street
– the monumental square Piazza Napoleone, the premises of the most important cultural events in town
– the 4.5-km-long city walls, today a panoramic round green park
– the Guinigi and the Ore medieval towers (entrances not included in our offer)
– the Giacomo Puccini birthhouse (entrances not included in our offer)
In the tour your guide will also take you to a local bar to enjoy a tasting of some typical and traditional sweets such as Buccellato.

Thank you for your e-mail.
I wanted to drop you a note of thanks for arranging such a wonderful day for our family.
To begin with, the tour of Lucca with Wanda was fantastic. Her historical knowledge made for a very interesting morning and her enthusiasm throughout the tour brought the town to life! Please pass on our thanks and appreciation to Wanda.
And just when we thought things couldn’t get any better, we had an absolutely wonderful afternoon during our wine tasting tour at Cosmo’s estate.
Laura (from Ireland!) was a perfect hostess. She took us on a relaxing tour of the gorgeous grounds (with lots of grapes to sample), explained the wine making process and finished with a casual and very enjoyable hour of outdoor wine and olive oil tastings in the family gardens. What a perfect way to spend an afternoon. We purchased some wine and olive oil and both were a big hit with family and friends back here in Canada.
Thanks again, Consuelo, for organizing our day, (suggesting that we see Pisa on our own) and allowing us to meet such wonderful people like Wanda and Laura. Our memories of our day in Tuscany are fond indeed and we would highly recommend our tour experiences to others.

Unless differently specified, the meeting point with the guide is in Lucca downtown. Detailled instructions will be provided.

This program takes 3 hours. Time for reaching the meeting point not included.

This program and its rates do not include transportation to the meeting point and are set on a self-driving base. For further information see the box "transportation options".
The destinations reached during this activity are in the town of Lucca, an area that can be reached by private and public transport. It is possible to reach Lucca by public bus service and by train.
Yet, the public service is not well diffused in all Tuscany so we highly recommend renting a car or a scooter in order to reach the meeting point.
As an alternative, we can offer a valued service by chauffeured car, van or minibus. Any cost of transportation is to be added to the rates displayed on the rate table of this page.
