FIAT 500 CAR AND OLIVE OIL TOUR, WHAT A DAY! Live a memorable day in Tuscany by driving the iconic Fiat 500 vintage car and reaching a historical oil mill where to try their delicious olive oils and enjoy a special lunch.
An amazing trip by FIAT 500 car This very interesting itinerary begins in Lucca. Here, you’ll meet a very informative car rental representative who will introduce you to properly using your vintage car for the day. From there, you’ll start driving towards your first destination: Vicopisano, where the mill of our tour is located. Along the way, you’ll pass through picturesque small villages along a hilly countryside, and you can make stops to take pictures or enjoy some refreshments.
The journey from Lucca to Vicopisano is 25 km, and it takes approximately 40 minutes to drive. However, you can choose to leave early in the morning, stop along the way, and make some little diversions to the Colle di Compito, Orentano, Bientina, Buti, Pontedera (the hometown of Vespa). Some stops can also be made after lunch on your way back.
The village of Vicopisano, history and extra virgin olive oil You will be required to be in Vicopisano by 11:00 am where you will meet our guide for a short walking visit to Vicopisano, where to admire the walls of the fortress and a stunning military tower built by Brunelleschi.
Following that, our guide will takes you to visit a family-run farm, where olive oil, wine and kiwi-based products are produced. You’ll visit their oil mill and get an explanation of how extra virgin olive oil is made. You’ll try at least 5 different types of olive oil combined with rice, before being served a full lunch with a typical soup, and a variety of crostini and cold meats. For those who won’t be driving afterward, wine from the farm will be served. A dessert with their distinct kiwi jam concludes your lunch experience.
This experience is for a minimum of 2 people, a fun adventure to share with family and friends, for a maximum of 20 people.

The visit to the oil mill of Vicopisano ends at a table where lunch starts with a guided tasting of many kinds of olive oils scented with herbs, fruits and vegetables paired with plain rice for a perfect perception of the different tastes.
A plate of mixed bruschettas, topped with fresh tomatoes, cheese and sausage, arucola and lemon juice or simply extra virgin olive oil. Bruschettas are very common appetizers in all Italy and in Tuscany they are commonly called crostini. You can top grilled bread with almost anything that comes to your mind and served varied and […]
A plate of local prosciutto, salami and pecorino cheese is a typical appetizer in the Tuscan cooking tradition. A plate of mixed cold meats and cheese can often accompany a guided tasting of Tuscan wines.
Pecorino cheese is the most famous cheese from Tuscany. It derives from sheep milk, from which the name comes: in Italian sheep is “pecora”. It can be fresh or long-aged and its taste can vary from mild to very sharp.
Zuppa alla frantoiana means vegetable soup of the olive oil maker. It is a delicious soup made of sauted vegetables like carrots, potatoes, beans, kale and cabbage on which the final touch is freshly squeezed extra virgin olive oil. It was traditionally the soup that authentic oil mills in Tuscany were preparing for their guests […]
Tuscan white wines are often based on a typical grape called Vermentino, which provides strong minerality and freshness to the wines made with it. The area of San Gimignano provides the one and only white wine DOCG in Tuscany: Vernaccia. Other very common grapes for white wines in Tuscany are Trebbiano and Malvasia.
The Tuscan soil provides a wide variety of red wines, from easy-to-drink young table wines to full-body and robust riservas. Tuscan red wines are often based on Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Ciliegiolo or Colorino grapes and sometimes on international grapes like Merlot, Cabernet or Syrah. The most curious experiements are recently involving Alicante and Tempranillo!
The most common coffee ordered at Italian bars is espresso. Its quantity is very small and it is supposed to be nicely creamy on the top. Many Italians sip it quickly while standing at a bar, so not sitting or longly debating around it.

Moira
Pisa city tour guide & and tour leader at Arianna & Friends'
Ciao a tutti! My name is Moira and I'm the "foreigner" here at Arianna & Friends! In fact I come from the north west of Italy, from the town of Turin, and I moved to Tuscany in 2012, falling immediately in love with the culture, the arts and foods and of course - my favourite! - wines of this beautiful region.
I started working at Arianna & Friends' back in 2013 as an assistant at the Tourist Information Office of a small hilltop village, where our office was initially located; then I got my licence as tour guide and I am today the city tour guide in the team for the main towns of Pisa, Volterra, San Miniato, but also for all our less famous tiny villages, which hide lots of secrets and such a loooong history!
Last year, together with my colleague Luca, we got a licence as official truffle hunters, but I'm still mainly a truffle eater!
When I'm not walking around in our amazing places talking about arts, culture and history, or discovering together with our guests the local specialties, you find me in the office, taking care of bookings and reservations.
I really hope to meet you soon to show you around our beautiful land, and as I come from another region, I can also reveal some of the secrets that Tuscan people will never confess!!
